victorianrarecoin.com - about us
Victorian Rare Coin specializes in certified rare coins. We have one of the largest certified rare coin inventories in the country and stock coins in over 25 different categories with a focus on coins from the 1840s to the 1960s. We specialize in US gold, 19th century type and 20th century singles and sets. Our goal is to provide the numismatic collector and investor quality collector coins.
Victorian Rare Coin is owned and operated by Andrew N. Seminerio. He began collecting coins in the mid 50s after being given some silver dollars by his great uncle and started the business in 1975. He worked for New England Rare Coin Galleries in Boston as a coin purchaser from 1980 to 1981. In 1987 he was one of the first market makers on the American Numismatic Exchange which later became the Certified Rare Coin Exchange. He is past president of the Stoneham Coin Club and has taught Numismatics at Newbury College in Boston.
The 1980s witnessed the emergence and growth of third party grading which standardized and improved the consistency of the quality of rare coins delivered to the public. Mr. Seminerio participated in the process of certifying coins through his position as Grader for the Hallmark Grading Services.
Born in Boston, he splits his time between the Massachusetts North Shore and coastal Maine. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1974 with a B.A. in history and continued graduate studies at Boston University earning a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1979. Before entering the field of numismatics full time, he worked as a recreational therapist for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and interned as a social worker for the Greater Lynn, Massachusetts Community Mental Health Center. He is married and has two children.

Mr. Seminerio spends much of his free time playing, coaching and watching basketball. He's a fan of all Boston sports teams and is a long time season ticket holder of the Boston Celtics. If he has any additional leisure time, he can be found shopping at antique shows and flea markets. His interest include Civil War memorabilia, sports memorabilia, antique photography and historical publications.
Victorian Rare Coin had taken part in the national coin show circuit for two decades. Today we supply both dealers and collectors through mail order and internet sales.
Through Victorian Rare Coin, Mr. Seminerio hopes to provide collectors and investors with one of the largest inventories of certified rare coins in the country. His business philosophy includes remaining large in terms of product but lean in terms of overhead. His skills at all levels of the rare coin industry should prove invaluable for all Victorian Rare Coin customers.
We look forward to assisting you in building your collection or supplying coins for your customers.
